Charlotte Jacovetty

Charlotte June Jacovetty, better known to all as Aunt Charlotte, 88, of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and the comfort of a life well lived.

Born May 23, 1937, Charlotte was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Jacovetty and Mildred (Radulovich) Jacovetty Lucey. A woman of unwavering faith, she was a devoted member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where her spirituality guided her life and brought her great comfort and strength.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her sister Ruth “Teeny” Hugus, brother-in-law Eugene “Pud” Hugus, brother Charles “Buddy” Jacovetty, sister-in-law Patty Jacovetty, niece Charlene, niece Charla, and great-niece Jennifer Jacovetty.

Charlotte retired after many years of dedicated service from C&P Telephone Co., working as a telephone operator. She took great pride

in her career and remained connected through her membership in the Telephone Pioneers of America. Her community involvement included various women’s groups in the Ohio Valley, the Upper Ohio Valley Italian Heritage Society, and the Sisters of St. Joseph, highlighting her dedication to faith, service, and fellowship.

Known for her gentle heart and generous spirit, Charlotte was an avid animal lover. She shared a profound bond with her cherished 19-year old cat, Baby, who never left her side and remained faithfully with her at the time of her passing, a true reflection of the unconditional love Charlotte gave throughout her life.

Charlotte also loved to travel, finding joy and relaxation in winter stays in Florida and on cruises, where she delighted in new places, warm sunshine, and the simple pleasures of life. She treasured time spent with family and friends and will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and enduring faith.

She is survived by her family, including nieces and nephews: Darlene Hugus, Charlotte “Charshy” Bryan, Dean (Tammy) Jacovetty, Gloria (Dino) Visnick, Lisa (James) Blazier, Sammy (Pam) Jacovetty, Tricia (Andy) Garcia, along with many great, great-great nieces and nephews, and friends– all of whom held a special place in her heart.

A faithful servant of God, Charlotte now rests in eternal peace. “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matthew 25:21). Her family takes comfort in knowing she has been welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and reunited with those who have gone before her.

Family and friends will be received Monday, December 22, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 2111 Market St., Wheeling, WV, with Mass at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church or a local animal shelter.
