Shirley Anne Jones, born on April 26, 1968, in Moundsville, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, in her hometown at the age of 57.
Shirley was a cherished member of the Washington Lands United Methodist Church, where she found solace and community. Her faith and dedication to her church family were constants that brought her great joy.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charles E. Blake Sr. and Laura Weston Blake, as well as her siblings, Charles Blake, Janet Freshwater, Caroline Freshwater, and Donna Blake.
Shirley, a loving wife, leaves behind her devoted husband of 25 years, Melvin Jones, who stood by her side through life’s many seasons. She is also survived by her brother, George Michael Blake, and her cherished nieces and nephews: Jeanie Blake, John Freshwater, Josh Freshwater, Andrew Freshwater, Dylan Blake, and Paul Blake. Shirley’s life was further enriched by the love and friendship of Virginia and Matthew Smith, along with many other dear friends.
A memorial service to honor Shirley’s life will be held on Monday, January 12th, at 2 p.m. at Washington Lands United Methodist Church.
