Sharon Van Scyoc

Sharon G. Van Scyoc, age 81, passed away January 10, 2026 at Moundview Nursing Home. She was born on April 4, 1944 in Glen Dale, WV. She was the daughter of the late Beatrice (Richmond) Williams, and John Ellsworth Bannon.

Sharon was a homemaker who had a passion for singing. She enjoyed music, coloring, puzzles, playing cards, cooking, traveling, cardinals, and spending time with family and friends. She especially loved visiting and talking with her grandchildren.

She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church and a member and past-president of Eagles Women’s Auxiliary, as well as, member of the VFW.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Shirley W. Van Scyoc; a son Michael R. Van Scyoc; two brothers John and James Williams; and a sister Ester Williams.

She is survived by two daughters Sherry (Fred) Carroll and Michelle Van Scyoc; one son Blaine (Caroline) Van Scyoc; five grandchildren: Isaac (Michelle) Yocum, Fred (Hope) Carroll Jr, Brendan Carroll, Okey Lee Redman and Blaine Van Scyoc Jr; three great-grandchildren: Bradley Yocum, Brylen Van Scyoc and Anika Van Scyoc; one brother Donnie (Margie) Richmond; one aunt Juanita Williams; and several step-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 10am until time of service at 12:00, noon, with Pastor Larry Jenkins officiating at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Vance Avenue, Moundsville, WV. Interment will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery.
