Rosemarie Danahey

Rosemarie Danahey, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Born in Wheeling on October 30, 1940, she was 85 years old at the time of her passing.

A proud alumna of St. Joseph’s Academy and Catholic by faith, Rosemarie lived a life rich with dedication and love. For over 25 years, she served as a Lab Courier at Wheeling Hospital, where her tireless work and commitment were appreciated by colleagues and patients alike.

Rosemarie’s love for nature was evident in the beautiful gardens she cultivated, earning her the affectionate title of having a “green thumb.” She found great joy in planting flowers and often expressed that she “loved playing in the dirt.” Her artistic spirit extended to crafting and sewing, as she lovingly stitched countless costumes for her cherished family. Many afternoons were spent on her porch, reveling in the simple pleasures of her surroundings and greeting passersby. Amidst all her interests, Rosemarie’s greatest joy came from the companionship of her beloved puppy, Daisy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary (Reilly) Tschappat; her loving husband, Tom Anthony Danahey; her brother, Tom Tschappat; and two step-grandsons, Tanner Young and Seth O’Bright.

Rosemarie’s legacy lives on through her children: Shawn (Kelly) Danahey, Shannon (Randy) Young, and Aaron Danahey (Kelly O’Bright); her brother, Bob (Anna) Tschappat; her three grandchildren, Shawn (Lauren) Danahey II, Tyler Danahey, and Jordan Ferris; her two great-grandchildren, Ryanne and Diem Danahey; several nieces and nephews; and her devoted dog, Daisy.
