Elina Lynn Werner, lovingly known as “Ellie,” was born on January 14, 2026, at WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Hospital. After 13 precious days of life, Ellie was called home to God at 6:44 p.m. on January 27, 2026, surrounded by the loving arms of her family in the NICU.
Though her time on earth was brief, Ellie’s life was filled with purpose. She fought bravely, defied countless odds, and made a profound impact on everyone who knew her. In just 13 days, she brought people together, strengthened faith, and reminded everyone of the power of love and prayer. While her family fought with everything they had for her, they trust that God had a different plan and called her home. Ellie was made perfectly in His image, and her life stands as a beautiful reminder that God makes no mistakes.
Ellie is survived by her loving parents, Mason and Kristen Werner; her big sister, Caroline Werner; and her beloved family dog, Yankee. She is also survived by her grandparents, Scott and Wendy Werner and Steve and Kara Quickel; her great-grandmothers, Karen Beltz and Connie Werner; and her cherished aunts and uncles, including “Auntie Scotlynne,” “Uncle Trent,” “Aunt La,” “Uncle Bryan,” and “Uncle Ryan,” along with many extended family members and dear friends who loved her deeply.
While the family’s hearts are shattered and life will never be the same, they find comfort in knowing Ellie will remain with them every day in spirit until they are reunited again. She will forever be their inspiration.
The family extends their deepest gratitude for the prayers, love, support, and generosity shown during this unimaginable time. They are profoundly thankful to everyone who donated to Ellie’s GoFundMe and supported them throughout her NICU journey. Though they cannot thank each person individually, please know how deeply grateful they are.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 3:30 pm until time of service at 6:30 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes Wheeling Chapel, 1400 Eoff St.
A graveside service and interment will take place on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Greenwood Cemetery and will be private for immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support Kristen and Ellie’s medical expenses here.
May God bless each and every one of you, and may He hold sweet Ellie’s soul in His loving arms. The family encourages everyone to cherish each moment with their children and hold them a little closer today.
