Kenneth Mont Nickerson, 73, of Wheeling, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
He was born on September 25,1952, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Mont Westley and Irene Grace Imhoff Nickerson.
Kenneth retired from Wheeling Park Commission where he was an equipment operator for 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, primitive camping and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was adored and respected not only by his family, but also people from all walks of life. Every piece of knowledge he shared and every smile he caused will be cherished.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Lufft; and his son-in-law, Craig Lovett.
Surviving Kenneth is his loving wife of 54 years, Grace Lee Garrett Nickerson; his children, Kenneth Scott (Amy) Nickerson, Clint Nickerson, Joanna Lovett, and Cindy (Tony) Childers; eleven grandchildren, Anthony, Kayla (Kody), Kelsey (Conner), Kylee, Kody, Rylie, Alyssa, Nathan, Brooklynn, Addison, and Olivia; three great grandchildren, Raiden, Bryson, and Eliana: several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Suzie.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 4-8 pm at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-242-2311), where services will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 1 pm with Pastor Mike Palmer and Rev. David Forsythe as co-officiants.
Interment will follow at Park View Memorial Gardens.
