Vanessa Alexis Hayes, 25, of Moundsville, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital – WVU.
She was born in Wheeling, WV on June 17, 2000 the daughter of Shelly (Adams) Warner and William Hayes, II. Vanessa possessed a remarkable artistic talent, which she expressed through her love of doing hair and makeup. Her creativity knew no bounds, and she had an innate ability to bring beauty into the world, whether through her art or her warm interactions with those around her. She was a compassionate caregiver, dedicating her time and energy to helping others with kindness and patience.
Vanessa is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lelia Higgins and William Hayes, Sr.
She is survived by her parents, Shelly (Eugene) Warner and William “Bill” (Tammy) Hayes, II; her loving boyfriend whom she spent 5 wonderful years with, Donald “D.J.” Walton, Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Luanne (Richard) Griffiths and Donald Adams, Sr.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Vanessa’s vibrant spirit and gentle nature touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral services will be held at CARE Funeral and Cremation, 1500 Second St., Moundsville at a date and time to be determined.
