James Kenneth Hossman, affectionately known as Jim to his friends and Jimmy among his family. He was born on October 12, 1931, in McMechen, West Virginia, peacefully passed away at the age of 94 on February 14, 2026, at the Wheeling Hospital Continuous Care Center.
Jimmy was a master electrician who dedicated 55 years of service to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 141. His keen skills and tireless work ethic made him a respected figure in his field.
A man of many talents, Jimmy was known for his ability to repair anything, spending countless hours in his garage tinkering with various projects. A true handyman, he often volunteered his time and expertise to assist family, neighbors, and the local church with maintenance work. Reliable and generous, Jimmy was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
In his leisurely moments, Jimmy found joy in watching sports on television, listening to music, reading, and occasionally indulging in a day of fishing. He held a passion for automobiles, kept abreast of the latest technology trends, and enjoyed engaging in discussions about current events.
Jimmy’s faith was an integral part of his life. He was a Christian by faith and a past member of the McMechen-Benwood United Methodist Church. He also served his community as a member of the American Legion in McMechen for fifty years. He held several offices including secretary. On Memorial Day weekend, he distributed flags for the graves at the McMechen Cemetery and rode or walked in the McMechen Memorial Day parade. A proud veteran, Jimmy served our nation with honor during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Air Force.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mildred (Logsdon) Hossman; his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary (Fitzsimmons) Hossman; his brother Jack Hossman; and his sister Judy Padlow.
Jimmy’s legacy lives on through his surviving family, including his children Brenda Lohri (Dennis) Posey, Tami Patterson, and Beth Ann Scully; his grandchildren Christopher (Noelle) Lohri, Dr. Joshua (Courtney) Lohri, Jacob Scully (Ana Abu-Rus), and Emily (Ty) Boyd; nine cherished great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews, who will all remember his kindness, wisdom, and steadfast support.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the Memorial Visitation on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of full military honors presented by the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard at 11:00 AM and commencing with a Celebration of Life service officiated by Pastor Adam Mick. All services honoring Jimmy will be held at the C3 Church, located at 250 Bethany Pike, Wheeling, WV. A private inurnment at Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum will occur at the convenience of the family.
