Matthew John Vetanze, 55, of Wheeling, WV passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at home.
He was born June 27, 1970 in Martins Ferry, OH, son of Rosalie McAninch Vetanze Ashby and the late Ralph Vetanze.
Matthew was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served from 1989-1992.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Vetanze, and his step-father, Thomas Ashby.
Matthew is survived by his son, Aleksandr Vetanze; Bonnie Vetanze; his mother, Rosalie Ashby; his brothers, James Vetanze, Michael Vetanze, David Vetanze, Daniel Vetanze; his sisters, Candace Rinkes and Mary Paros; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received for memorial visitation on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 11am until the time of memorial service at 12pm, at Kepner Funeral Home-Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Ave. Wheeling (304-277-2722). Interment and military services by the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard will directly follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
