George E. Carroll, Jr., age 67 of Wheeling WV passed away suddenly on Friday, March 27, 2026 at WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling WV, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories among his family and friends. Born into a large and loving family, he was one of eight siblings, a bond he cherished throughout his life.
After graduating from Wheeling Park High School, he was accepted into The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, an achievement that brought great pride to both him and his entire family. Upon returning from New York, he attended Wheeling Barber College and enjoyed working with many clients throughout the years.
He will be remembered for his kindness and big heart. His devotion to family was evident in the love and care he showed, especially in faithfully visiting their mother every day while she resided in a nursing home battling Alzheimer’s disease. He touched many lives and leaves behind lasting memories for those who knew him and loved him.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, George E., Sr. and Harlean L. Carroll. George’s memory will be lovingly preserved by family members, Kari L. Wardell (Vince), Christine L. McDermott (Patrick), Theresa K. Thomas (Mark), Harley M. Carroll (Amy), Mary Keebler (Matthew), John H. ‘Jack’ Carroll (Jenna), Clayton C. Carroll (Meghan). In addition to his immediate family, he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and lifelong friends.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, located at 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 11 a.m. until the time of the Life Celebration Service at 1 p.m., followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. In honor of his simple nature, the family requests casual dress for the funeral services, reflecting George’s preference.
