Kurt Kawa

Kurt A. Kawa, 69, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at the JW Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown West Virginia.

Born on June 29, 1956, a son of the late Thomas and Shirley Hobson Kawa.

Kurt lived a life marked by dedication to his work, passion for his hobbies, and camaraderie with friends.

Kurt devoted many years of his professional life as a clerk at Kroger Grocery, where he was known for his reliability and kindness. He took great pride in his work and cherished the relationships he built with both colleagues and customers.

A man of diverse interests, Kurt found joy and relaxation in outdoor pursuits before his illness. He was an avid fisherman and his enthusiasm for sports extended to the bowling alley, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of league play, as well as to the golf course, where he spent many peaceful afternoons. In recent years, he discovered a new source of entertainment in reality TV and valued the simple pleasure of shooting the breeze with his buddies.

Kurt served his country honorably as a veteran of the United States Army, a testament to his commitment and service. He was also a former member of the Cambridge Eagles, Moose Lodge, and Masonic Lodge.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Vickie Sexton Kawa, son; Dustin (Stephanie) Kawa, siblings; Gregory ‘Greg’ Kawa and Cathy Laughman both of Cambridge, Ohio as well as his beloved grandchildren, Henry and Elena Kawa.

Per Kurt’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Private arrangements have been entrusted to CARE Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 204 West Main Street, St. Clairsville Ohio 43950.
