James Funkhouser

James Stanley “Stan” Funkhouser, aged 77, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026 in St. Clairsville, Ohio. He was born on September 24, 1948, in Bellaire, Ohio, Stan lived a life full of dedication to his family, his work, and his passions.

Stan proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, laying a strong foundation for a life characterized by hard work and service. Though Stan held various jobs throughout his lifetime, he was most proud of running his own business, Funkhouser’s Deer Processing, for over forty years. His dedication to his craft was unparalleled, and his work became an integral part of his identity. Even after retiring, his passion for the business remained steadfast, leading him to impart his knowledge to his beloved daughter-in-law, Bobby Jo, when she reopened the business.

Beyond his working life, Stan found joy in the simple pleasures. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, reveling in the serenity of nature. Many evenings were spent around a poker table with friends, engaging in spirited games that brought laughter and camaraderie. Each morning, Stan cherished sipping his coffee on the porch while watching the hummingbirds, a peaceful ritual that anchored his days.
