Oma Genevieve Gillispie, born on July 2, 1933, in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, in Cameron, West Virginia, at the age of 92.
Oma dedicated over forty years of her life as a Specialized Family Care Provider, offering love and support to those in need. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life into her personal passions, which included solving puzzles, playing the guitar and singing, crocheting, and cooking. She was a cherished member of the Moundsville House of Prayer, where her faith and community were central to her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ben and Hazel Henry; her devoted husband, Homer Gillispie; her brothers, Robert, Rex, Johnny, Benny, Charles, and Michael; her sisters, Ruth and Rebecca; two infant siblings; her children, Homer Gillispie Jr., Harry Gillispie, Marguerit Fordyce, and Pauline Todd; her son-in-law, Sherman Hull; and her grandsons, Andrew, Bill, Gary, and Roger.
Oma leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by her daughters, Irma Hull, Marie (Larry) Bunting, and Judith Murray; her son, Timothy (Marci) Knight; her brother, Patrick (Jan); her sister, Lillian; her grandchildren, Amy, Kelly, Karri, Macy, Patrick, Shane, Lance, Brad, Brent, Jason, Larry, Matthew, Marlene, Joanne, and Harry Dale; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Vickie Wade and Flo.
A celebration of Oma’s life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance of her remarkable journey. The family extends a special thank you to the Cameron Healthcare Center for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cameron Healthcare Center in her memory. The family would also like to thank CARE Funeral and Cremation Specialist for their empathetic care during this difficult time.
Oma Genevieve Gillispie will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her dedication to family and community, and the warmth she brought into the lives of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
