Susan M. Baker, 72, passed away on June 23, 2026, in her hometown of Wheeling. Sue was born on October 21, 1953, the daughter of Mary M. and George W. Baker.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by Ron Koontz and her cat Shoshoney.
Sue leaves behind her son Corey Zurbuch of Boulder, Colorado, brother Clark (Ruby) Baker of Chicago, brother Thomas W. Baker of Sanford, Florida, and sister Pamela Shaw of Wheeling; nieces Kimberly Baker, Melissa (Zach) Hess, and Ginger (Bo) Morgan; nephews Christopher Baker and Robert (Christina) Shaw; and great-nieces and great-nephews Adam, Zoya, Salaam, Ryleigh, and Carson.
Sue will be remembered for her love of dancing, music, swimming, and glamorous clothes. She worked at West Liberty University for 35 years, serving as head data entry operator specialist.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 26, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Saturday, June 27, from 11:00 am until time of service at noon, all at Altmeyer Funeral Homes Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St. Procession to Parkview Memorial Gardens, Sue’s final resting place, will directly follow.
