Archie Thomas Hill, born on August 31, 1938, in Moundsville, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, at WVU Medicine, Wheeling Hospital. He was 87 years old.
Archie was a man who lived a long and fulfilling life, marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his country. He served honorably in the United States Army for four years.
Following his military service, Archie worked as an Operator at Columbian Chemical. Outside of work, he found joy in the great outdoors, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. He cherished the time spent in the hunting blind and on the boat with his son, Jeff. Archie was a member of the American Legion, sharing his patriotism with fellow Veterans.
Archie’s greatest pride and joy were his granddaughters, with whom he shared a special bond. He delighted in their accomplishments and was a constant source of support and encouragement.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille Hill; parents, Archie and Mable Hill; his brothers, Bob and Bill Hill, and Ralf Robinson; and his sisters, Imajean Huggins, Mary Hall, Ruth Wise, Helen Tucker, and Dorothy Hill.
Archie leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor his legacy: his children, Lisa (John) Butler and Jeff Hill; his grandchildren, Paige and Emily Butler, and Shelby (Robert) Chapman; and his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Olivia, Gema, and Leo. He is also survived by his brother, Dave Robinson, and sister-in-laws, Terry Minear, Carol Hill, and Carol Robinson as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Fairview United Methodist in Moundsville, WV. The service will be officiated by Rev. Wesley Howsare, with Military Honors provided by the Moundsville Honor Guard.
Archie Thomas Hill will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
