Jack Grover Edgell Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, in Moundsville, WV, at the age of 77. Born on December 16, 1948, in Wheeling, WV, Jack lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a love for the simple joys of life.
Jack proudly served as a member of the United States Navy in the Vietnam War, where he demonstrated unwavering commitment and patriotism. Following his military service, he worked as a bread delivery driver, a role that allowed him to connect with many in his community through his friendly demeanor and reliable service.
A devoted husband, Jack cherished traveling to the mountains with his wife, Sharon, creating countless memories together amidst nature’s beauty. He was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, often found cheering them on with great enthusiasm.
Jack was a man of faith, attending St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where he found spiritual solace and community.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Grover Edgell Sr.; mother, Grace Irene Edgell; stepson, John Strauss; son-in-law, James Glass; granddaughters, Amanda Strauss, and Samantha Glass; grandson, Johnny Strauss; niece, Jackie; and great-nephew, Shane.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Edgell; daughter, Trina Strauss-Glass, daughter-in-law, Christine White; grandchildren, Nicole Glass-Crouch, Cameron Glass and Carson Glass; sister, Ellen Edgell; brothers, Roger Edgell and Jeff Edgell; sisters-in-law, Susie and Barbra; and niece, Leslie Hollingsworth (Fortney); great-grandchildren, Avery, Olivia, Abel, Riley, Amelia, and Trey. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
