It is with a heavy heart that we share the unexpected passing of our beloved brother and partner, Terry W. Gilbert, who passed away Monday, June 29, 2026 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1960, a son of the late Clarence R. and Wilma G. (Parsons) Gilbert. Terry was a graduate of John Marshall High School, class of 1979. He worked for several years at Ohio Valley Battery before moving to the coal industry and retiring from GMS Mine Repair after many years of dedicated service. After retirement he was fondly known as “Meteorologist Gilbert” to his family, as he would share the day’s forecast every morning. In his spare time you could find Terry working on automobiles, especially his truck, which he was currently trying to rebuild the engine.
Terry was not only a brother, but a best friend and confidant to his siblings. Growing up they would share countless adventures, from playing in the backyard to whatever mischief he would find. He had an infectious laugh and a heart of gold, always ready to lend a hand or share a story. Terry leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Tim E. McClintock.
He was a beloved brother to Vickie (John Johnson) McClintock, Jerry (Lori) Gilbert and Judy (Frank) White all of Moundsville, WV and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a beloved companion to longtime partner of 31 years, Janet Baysal and his step-children, Derrick (Maunie) Baysal of Suffolk, VA and Ian (Teresa) Hughes of Wheeling, WV.
Please help to honor Terry’s life with a contribution made to the Marshall County Animal Shelter at www.tmcfunding.com.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
