Elsie Mercer

Elsie Jane Mercer, born on January 5, 1932, in the small town of Board Tree, WV, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on June 28, 2026, at the Cameron Healthcare Center in Cameron, WV. Her life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Throughout her life, Elsie exuded warmth and kindness, embodying the virtues of a true Christian. She held various positions at U.S. Stamping, Ruttenbergs, and Berry, Bippus, Chison & Foose insurance agency. However, she often said that her most cherished role was being a devoted homemaker. She provided a nurturing home filled with love and care, leaving a lasting impact on those who were fortunate to be part of her family.

Elsie’s life was marked by profound love and enduring connections. She is now reunited with her parents, Marion and Beatrice (Nixon) Williams, her beloved husband, James L. Mercer, and her daughter, Jenny Woods, who have all gone before her.

Elsie leaves behind a legacy through her loving daughter, Margaret Siburt, and her son-in-law, James Siburt, of Moundsville, WV. Her spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of her six grandchildren, as well as her many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who will undoubtedly carry forward her teachings of love and kindness.

Services to honor Elsie’s life will take place at CARE Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 1500 2nd Street, Moundsville, WV 26041, with visitation on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. The service will be officiated by her grandson, Pastor Rich Siburt. Following the service, Elsie will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Limestone Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Limestone, WV.
