Jerry Benn Cook, 87, of Wheeling, WV passed away peacefully on the morning of July 4, 2026.
He was born June 14, 1939 to the late Thelma Della and Robert C. Cook.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Cook, and his brothers, Gary and Robert Cook.
Jerry is survived by his 5 children, Jerry B. Cook Jr. (Cyndi Shaw), Tammy Miller (Greg), Scott Cook, Christy Dodd (Matt) and Terry Phillips (Keith); 14 grandchildren, Jared Cook, Allie Barr and Alayna Cook, Luke, Brooke and Clare Miller, Emily and Jack Cook, Taylor Triveri, Samantha Wagner and Alec Dodd, and Zachary, Nathan and Brett Phillips; 4 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Shirley Hadorn and Cindy Lou Kent.
Jerry grew up working on his family farm. He carried his strong work ethic through many jobs before retiring as a mechanic for Ohio County Schools. His farming roots never left him, and he continued to plant his summer vegetable garden every year. He greatly enjoyed visits from his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his family will fondly remember his adventurous spirit, knack for story telling, and love of old Westerns.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311).
