Richard Mansuetto, 84, of Wheeling, WV, died at home on Saturday, July 4, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Dick was born at King’s County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, the second son to Nicholas and Aileen Haggerty Mansuetto, on April 28, 1942.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Francis. Surviving are his wife, Kay Phillips Mansuetto, to whom he was married for 59 years, son Nicholas (Johnna) and grandson Dominic, daughter Elizabeth (Ken) Dearing and grandchildren Allison and Nicholas. He is also survived by his sisters Carmella Jean “Molly” Nealer (Michael) and Aileen Mansuetto, as well as two nieces, three nephews and their families.
With his parents he moved to Wheeling and began his education at Bethlehem Elementary. He attended St Vincent de Paul grade school, Saint Mary’s Manor (Seminary), Central Catholic High School and graduated from St Francis Preparatory School, Spring Grove, PA. He continued his education at Mount Saint Mary’s College, Emmitsburg, MD. Dick served three years in the US Army and was honorably discharged as a Sargent E-5.
Dick served as CFO of N.F. Mansuetto and Sons Roofing Company. He later opened his own roofing company, Master Roofers and Builders. He served as President of the Wheeling Roofing Sheetmetal Association in this profession. From this he transitioned to the travel business opening Ohio Valley Travel (UNIGLOBE) and served as CEO for 10 years. While he owned the travel agency, he served on the Travel Agent Advisory Boards of Eastern Airlines, TWA, and United Airlines and was a Certified Travel Counselor.
Once sold he joined long-time friend Jim Squibb and opened Squibb Mansuetto & Company Advertising and Public Relations. Over the years the company transitioned to Squibb Dalzell Mansuetto. Upon the departure of Ms. Dalzell, the agency chose the name of Squibb Mansuetto Pappa and later Mansuetto Pappa Culler when Jim Squibb returned to WTRF. Mark Pappa left to open his own advertising agency and a merger occurred with the opening of a new office in St. Louis, Missouri. Mansuetto Barnes Culler was formed. The agency was sold in 1998 and remains with Dick’s long-time friend, John Culler, as owner and CEO.
After selling the advertising agency, he and long-time friend Howard Monroe founded WVLY-AM (1170) Radio. Dick went on to be a founding board member of Main Street Bank.
In his lifetime, Dick was active prolifically professionally, within church, and in his community.

He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and earned the Ad Altare Dei Award for Catholic Scouting, and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, WV.
As a member of the Wheeling community his entire life, he served on the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee developing the Home, Garden, and Sport Show. He chaired the Steering Committee bringing to Wheeling the LPGA Golf Tournaments and co-founded Ethnic Fest, which became The Italian Heritage Festival. As a lifetime member of the Pittsburgh SKAL Club, he served as president. He was a minority owner of the Wheeling Nailers and member of the Fort Henry Club. Dick co-founded the Wheeling AM Kiwanis Club and was its first President. He later became State Lt Governor of that organization.
Additionally, he served as Junior Achievement Board Member, past presidents of the Wheeling Country Club, the Wheeling and WV chapters of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Dimmeydale Community Association (where he and his wife raised a family and have lived for 54 years).
Dick was an avid golfer. Later in life he took a great interest in radio-controlled airplanes, joining and serving on the board of the Wheeling Hillhoppers. When he and his wife spent winters in The Villages of Florida, he continued his joy of flying with a club there.
