Elizabeth “Betty” Rushkevich

It is with deep sadness and greatest of joy to announce the passing and re-birth of Betty Rushkevich, who passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at the age of 99.

She was born on August 29, 1926. Betty spent her life sharing kindness, compassion and love through her smile and devotion to her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her greatest joy and happiness was attending baseball, softball and volleyball games from the Pee Wee leagues all the way through college, making pierogis and working street fairs with her Ukrainian Church family and especially attending mass with her grandchildren, Scot and Jade.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Teresa Fisher; her husband, Steve; a daughter, Debbie Pattison; brothers, Robert and Bill Fisher and their spouses, Mary and Gloria; and many of her pets.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Carol (Larry) Goodnight; grandchildren, Scot (Lisa) Goodnight and Jade (Rick Vargo) Goodnight; great-grandchildren, Logan (Skylar Hansen) Goodnight and Meghan (Ketler Hoppin) Goodnight; step great-grandson, Andrew Vargo; special nieces, Sandy, Pam, Janet, Teresa Ann and Mary Rose; all her neighbors on Jones Street and Candy.

Betty graduated from St. Joseph Academy, Class of 1945.

Our hearts are broken, but we know her spirit, kindness, compassion and especially her love for us lives always and forever in our hearts.

You are always and forever loved and missed by all of us.

“Fly high on angel’s wings” and we’ll see you on the other side.

Per Betty’s request, there will be no visitation. Services and interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements by Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242-2311).
