Nancy Dierkes

Nancy Jean Dierkes, of Wheeling, WV, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Liza’s Place.

She was born on August 24, 1945, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Charles R. and N. Bernice (Barr) Pelkey. Nancy was a devout and active member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, where she volunteered for many years. She also contributed her time to the Wheeling Hospital Auxiliary and was a cherished member of the Elm Grove Eagles. She was a 1964 Triadelphia High School graduate and volunteered for over 60 years organizing class reunions.

For 30 years, Nancy dedicated herself as a craft instructor, sharing her passion and skills with countless individuals. Following her retirement from teaching, she pursued her love of creativity as a floral designer at Wheeling Flower Shop, bringing beauty and joy to many.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three brothers, Roger Miller, Robert Pelkey, and Charles Pelkey; and her three sisters, Margaret Johnson, Helen Hitching, and Catherine Brown.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert “Bob” Dierkes; her beloved daughter, Bluie (Chuck) Eder; three grandchildren, Julianna, Rhys and McKenna Eder whom were her entire world; one brother, Rev. Edward Mullins and several nieces and nephews, including Scott and P.J. Ratcliffe who were special to Nancy.

Nancy lived a full and meaningful life, enriching the lives of those around her with her warmth and kindness.

Family and friends are invited to attend services in honor of Nancy’s life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St., Wheeling. Services may be streamed by clicking here.
