Virginia Ruth Elsman, a beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, at Calcutta Health Care. Born on October 4, 1928, in Vittendale, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Clark) Wesley; Virginia lived a remarkable life of 97 years, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service.
Virginia devoted many years to her work as a Nurse’s Aid with the Bariatric Center of Beaver, where her compassionate nature and dedication to helping others were evident to all who knew her. Her career was marked by her commitment to providing care and comfort to those in need, a testament to her nurturing spirit.
Beyond her professional life, Virginia found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed playing cards and was an active member of Triangle Seniors, where she formed lasting friendships and cherished memories.
On December 6, 1947, Virginia married the love of her life, Robert Elsman. The couple shared 60 wonderful years together until his passing in 2007. Their union was blessed with a loving family, including their children: Barbara Schondelmeyer, Kathleen (Robert) Wolfe, and Kimberly Elsman. Virginia was also the proud grandmother to Tracy Jones, Jamie Heffner, Michelle Hillard, Lisa Hillard, Sean Wolfe, Ryan Matthews, and Chris Matthews.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Robert, her siblings Sonny Wesley, James Wesley, Robert Wesley, and Ida McWilliams, and her son-in-law, James Schondelmeyer. She leaves behind a family and community that will forever cherish her memory and the profound impact she had on their lives.
In accordance with Virginia’s wishes, no public services will be held. Her family and friends will remember her privately, celebrating her life and the love she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her.
