It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Colleen Sue Griner, age 75, of Dunedin, Florida. Colleen passed peacefully in the company of family and loved ones.
Colleen was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio to Bill and Christine Griner. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, and brother Gene Griner.
She is survived by her partner Robert (Butch) Williams, children Amy (Steve) Cordy of Bellaire, Ohio; Ian (Lara) Johnson of Granville, Ohio; Dena (Danny) Vogel of Colerain, Ohio. Seven grandchildren Macy (Drae Wallace) Cordy, Melissa (Kyle) Moffit, Ada and Jack Johnson, Wes, Dominic, and Mara Vogel, and four great grandchildren, Stevie, Clayton, Miley, and Ginny.
Colleen also leaves behind brothers Jack (Nancy) Griner and Robert (Judy) Griner, as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Colleen was a vibrant and dynamic woman, and as witty as they come. She could light up and raise the energy in any room, even to the last. She was a caring, creative, and nurturing mother who surrounded her children and their children with love – always finding a way to have fun in lean and rich times. Her maternal instincts didn’t stop at her immediate family. She formed lifelong, trusted relationships with nieces and nephews who to this day have a special bond with their sweet, funny, and beautiful Aunt Colleen.
She had a passion for fitness and broke ground as a first generation aerobics instructor. Together with her lifelong friends, she was an early purveyor of women’s fitness in the Ohio Valley. Health and nurturing were always common threads throughout her life, as she made her way to coordinating volunteers for home hospice care in her latter career, then eventually returning to fitness instruction for older adults.
Colleen was all these things and a thousand more. She loved being near water, and a good fire, and was one of the most alive people you would ever meet. Words fail to convey the joy of knowing her and being with her. We love her and will miss her dearly.
Per Colleen‘s request, there will be no services. A celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
