Christopher “Chris” Hildebrandt passed away on August 15, 2026, at his home in Valley Grove, WV. Chris was born on October 22, 1971, in New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Balasco and niece Saige Hildebrandt.
Chris leaves behind his spouse Angela Schwab; daughter Tia Hildebrandt (Denver, CO) and son Shelby Hildebrandt (Harrisburg, PA); step-children Harry Hartman (Brooksville, FL) and Mackenzie Hartman (Pittsburgh, PA); father Fred Hildebrandt (Miami, FL); brother and sister-in-law Kirk and Nicole Hildebrandt (Grand Rapids, MI); numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and several friends who have become Chris’s family over the years.
Chris was a true “Parrothead”; along with being a fan of Jimmy Buffett’s music, he rooted for the Miami Dolphins and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was an amateur chef who enjoyed trying new recipes–there wasn’t a crazy ingredient that he couldn’t find a dish for–and he was also a lover of bourbon, to put it mildly.
Chris delighted in traveling everywhere and anywhere and never failed to come home with stories; everyone would get a chuckle at the adventures. If there was ever a restaurant, dive joint, or diner in the middle of absolutely nowhere, Chris would find it, and be sure there was a bite to be eaten there!
Chris worked as an Edgar Snyder & Associates Attorney for more than 17 years.The law firm of Edgar Snyder & Associates has been more than an employer to Chris; they have been a family away from family. The compassion, care, and commitment far exceeds their clients, and extends to their team. He felt very fortunate to have them on his side!
Chris’ family would like to extend their gratitude to the nursing and care teams at the Hillman Cancer Clinic in Pittsburgh, the nursing and care teams on 6 West of Shadyside Hospital, Dr. James Rossetti, and many others who were more than just Chris and Angie’s care team; they were without question unwavering in their dedication and commitment to Chris.
To all that know Chris, this will come as no surprise: he wants a party and a celebration, with good stories, fun, and cheer! Please stop back here to check in on the planning of this celebration, which will happen closer to Chris’s 55th birthday in October.
