David Allen McConnell, 77, of Wheeling, WV, a dedicated and hard-working man, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 14, 2026, at WVU Wheeling Hospital.
He was born in Wheeling on October 3, 1948, a son of the late George A. and Agnes B. (Blatt) McConnell. David was well-known in his community as the owner of Dave’s Auto, a business he ran with diligence and pride along side his grandsons, PeeWee and Dan. His career also included the role of a mail contractor, where he applied the same unwavering work ethic that defined his character.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his four brothers, Dale, Don, Patrick and Bill.
David is survived by his four loving daughters, Sherry, Shelley (Danny Jr.), Sheina (Dennis) and Shanna; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Barb (Lou) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He lived a life marked by commitment to his work and family, his absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will forever be a testament to the strength and steadfastness of his spirit.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Marshall County Animal Shelter in c/o www.tmcfunding.com, an organization he held dearly to his heart.
