Cheryl Lynn Ripley (Charlton), age 63, of Triadelphia, WV, passed away August 18th, 2026 after a hard fought battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones in her home.
She was born November 29th, 1962 in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine to Rosalie Charlton (Belt) and the late Ellis Charlton, Sr. As a proud Military family, they lived many places before returning home to Triadelphia, WV.
Cheryl was a graduate of Wheeling Park High School (‘81) and gained her Bachelor of Arts from West Liberty University. She was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of Dirty Dog Lanes Pin Pals. Cheryl is a member of C3 – Christ Community Church. She spent her life taking care of her family, friends and community through her work in healthcare and her countless volunteer works. A “Mimi” to every child she met and a close friend to so many, she spent her life spreading love in every way she could.
She is preceded in death by her father, Ellis Charlton, Sr.; her brother Robert “Bob” Charlton, Sr.; and her brother-in-law, Richard Humway.
Cheryl is survived by her mother Rosalie Charlton (Belt) of Triadelphia, WV; her three children, Jeremiah (Griff) Ripley Bisbee of Los Angeles, CA, Erik (Chelsea) Ripley of Humble, TX, April (Dylan) Breiding of Wheeling, WV; brothers, Ellis “Skip” Charlton, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Frank (Darla) Charlton of Wheeling, WV, Bruce (Debra) Charlton of Triadelphia, WV, and Darrell (Lori) Charlton of Wheeling, WV, a sister and special niece, Wave Humway of Triadelphia, WV, and Chloe Humway of Pittsburgh, PA; Seven grandchildren who were her world, Ezra, Kilian, Boone, Priya, Paige, Knox, and Winifred; several cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces/nephews all of which she loved with all of her heart.
A “Celebration of Life” will take place 1pm on Monday, August 24th at C3 – Christ Community Church in Wheeling. The family would like to thank her medical teams at MonGeneral Cancer Center and Amedisys Hospice. They would also like to thank her many family and friends who came by to bring her joy and show her love in her final days, weeks and months. She got back all the love she spent years giving.
