Cecelia Mary “Cel” Hostutler, 92, of Wheeling, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Wheeling Hospital Continuous Care Center.
She was born in Benwood, WV, on June 9, 1934, the daughter of the late Martin Patrick and Mary Alice (Powell) Conner, Sr. A dedicated and compassionate caregiver, Cecelia devoted 20 years of her life at Reynolds Memorial Hospital as a pediatric nurse, where she tenderly cared for countless children and their families. She then continued her work with Community Mental Health in Bellaire, Ohio.
Cecelia was a devout Catholic, deeply rooted in her faith, and an active member of God’s Children of Love Prayer Group at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Her spirituality was a guiding light throughout her life, providing comfort and strength to those around her.
While her faith carried her strongly throughout her life, family was her world and she found immense joy and pride in her role as a caregiver; primarily as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. There was not a moment where someone she loved struggled that Cel was not there and she never expected anything in return. There was no amount of distance, time or illness that would stop her from coming to be by your side. Cel held such a saintly presence on this earth, that all who knew her could feel her love. All in all, cel was a light in this world, her kindness, wit and charm truly wrapped around you like a big hug, one you never wanted to be released from.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Edward and Richard Eldin Hostutler; one grandson, Bryan Michael Hostutler and her brother, Martin Conner, Jr.
Cecelia is survived by two children, Kim (Jeff) Wise and Jack (Hazel) Hostutler, Sr.; eight grandchildren, Richard (Veronica) Hostutler, Jason (Amy) Hostutler, Brandon (Kristen Gray) Hostutler, Jack (Michelle) Hostutler, Jr., Brett (Molly) Hostutler, Briana Hostutler, Kylie Wise and Alexa (Clayton) Zeroski; nine great-grandchildren, Beckett, Eli, Jack III, Madison, Hannah, Rowan, Fionne, Khloe and Crosby and a great-granddaughter Violet on the way and a large extended family.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, August 24, 2026 from 10 am until time of services at 11 am at Mt. Calvary Bishop’s Chapel with interment immediately to follow.
