‘TOGETHER AGAIN’
Eleanor “Cookie” Ann (Kimbro) Mayfield, 84, of Bridgeport, OH, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Wheeling Hospital.
She was born on March 17, 1942, daughter of the late Frederick L. and Geraldine (Stovall) Kimbro.
Cookie retired from Sears, was a sharp dresser and a Catholic by faith. She loved music and was in a local singing group called “El Conores”. She had a talent for ceramics that she shared with her friends and family, and will be fondly remembered for her unique way of cracking gum.
In addition to her parents, Cookie was preceded in death by her husband, James “Slick” Bennett Mayfield, Jr. and her sister, Patricia Smith.
Cookie is survived by her daughter, Kimberly A. Wallace of Stockbridge, GA; son, James B. (Sabrina) Mayfield III of Odenton, MD; six grandchildren, Candice Phillips, Danielle Galloway, Xania Wallace, Quentin Wallace, Briana Mayfield, and Sydney Mayfield; two great-grandchildren, Raya Phillips and Kristian Phillips; siblings, Brenda Green, Darlene (George) Clark, David Kimbro, Major Kimbro, Robert Kimbro, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 11 AM until the time of service at 1 PM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 900 National Road, Wheeling, WV (304-232-2732) with Gregory Ford officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
