Carrol Ernest “Bunky” Loy, a lifelong resident of Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, in St. Clairsville, Ohio surrounded by his family, at the age of 93. Born on August 2, 1933, in Belmont, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late Ernest and Ethel Loy.
Carrol’s first love was farming, until he was called to serve his country as a member of the U.S. Army. Following his service, he dedicated his professional life to the success of Loy’s Building Center, a company he built with dedication and hard work.
Carrol was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sandra Maxwell Loy.
Left to honor Carrol’s memory are his loving daughters, Misty Loy and Dusty (Pat) Palenicek, as well as his devoted brother, Terry (Cheryl) Loy, and sisters, Nancy Hudson and Janet (Jim) Hart. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Faith Hilton, Jamison and Joshua Funkhouser, and KC Sall, who brought great joy to his life, and his five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his cherished companion of 20 years, Donna Morris, with whom he shared a deep bond and two decades of cherished memories.
Carrol will be laid to rest privately at Coop Church Cemetery. Friends and family are welcomed to pay their respects during visitation on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Care Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 204 West Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a funeral service taking place at 6:00 PM.
Carrol will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family and his enduring contributions to his community. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
