Ruth Ann Cales, born January 20, 1942, in Benwood, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, at WVU Reynolds Memorial Hospital at the age of 84.
Ruth was a hardworking and dedicated housekeeper for many years at East Ohio Regional Hospital and The McKeen Group until her well-deserved retirement. She found great satisfaction in her work and took pride in her commitment and diligence.
In her leisure time, Ruth enjoyed playing games on her laptop, a pastime that brought her much joy and relaxation. However, her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Mucheck Meyers; her daughter, Cynthia Gardner; brothers, Carl and Joe Meyers; and sister, Minnie Prascik.
Ruth is lovingly survived by her children, Linda Wiley, Suzanne Cales, Judith Cales, and James (Dona) Klages; her grandson Joseph Wilson, who was more like a son to her; as well as her other cherished grandchildren, Cheryl Wiley, Pam Gatts, Elizabeth Davis, Donald J. Davis, Mercede Cales, and Chris Cales. She also leaves behind 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward her memory.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Ruth will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Hope United Methodist Church, 99 Valley Blvd., Wheeling. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering and celebrating her life.
