Lois Anne Sommers, born on April 27, 1947, in Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, at the age of 78, at Rolling Hills Nursing Home.
Lois dedicated over 50 years of her life to serving as a compassionate nurse at East Ohio Regional Hospital (E.O.R.H.), where she touched countless lives with her kindness and professionalism. Her unwavering commitment to the well-being of others was a testament to her nurturing spirit.
A devoted animal lover, Lois was an active member of the Belmont County Animal Rescue League, where she worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and care of animals in need. Her love for all creatures great and small was evident in her everyday actions and her gentle demeanor.
Lois was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Martins Ferry, Ohio, where she found solace and community throughout her life. Her faith was a guiding light, providing her with strength and comfort.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Theresa (Fitzpatrick) Sommers and Lewis Sommers, as well as her dear sister, Cynthia Sommers.
Lois is survived by her loving sister, Barbara Craver, and her cherished nieces and nephews: Carolee, Kenneth, Courtney, Killian, and Caden. She also leaves behind her dear friends, Vivian and Nancy, who were like family to her.
The family will hold services at their convenience to honor Lois’s memory.
Lois Anne Sommers will be remembered for her selfless dedication to others, her love for animals, and her unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
