Ruby Jean Gandee, 100, of Ravenswood WV, died Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling, WV.
Born in Clendenin WV, the 9th of 12 children of Joe and Sarah (Swinney) Fields.
Ruby loved growing up in Roane County, WV, enjoying all things outdoors on the big family farm located in Harmony. She retired from the G.C. Murphy Company, Weirton WV. Ruby was known for playing her guitar and singing. She was happy to entertain on a stage or on her front porch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Carroll Gandee, five brothers, Opie, Oscar, Grover, Jody, and Jack Fields, five sisters, Eva and Ruth Fields, Blanche Harpold, Midge Roberts, and Hope Allen.
Survived by son, Dr. Durwood Gandee of Wellsburg, WV, and daughter, Sharon Mueller (David) of Cincinnati, OH, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, her dear sister Frankie Young of Elkview WV, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be at graveside in Ravenswood WV.
