Delores Ostrander

Delores “Jean” Ostrander, known later in life as ” DJ”, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2025 at Sistersville Center in Sistersville WV. She was a biological daughter of Harry Glen “Banjo” Howard and Elizabeth “Bessie” Garrison and was raised by her foster parents, Hartford and Sarah Everly. Jean had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh – a minute after she entered the room, she either did or said something that made the room light up.

In addition to her biological and foster parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jesse H. Ostrander, biological brothers Jim Howard (Sandy) and Jim Hill, and a foster brother Jim Everly.

She is survived by her husband Richard Ostrander, sons Edward Williams (Rebecca) of Maxwell Acres, Moundsville and Jonathan Ostrander, currently serving active duty in the US Army, stationed in Bangkok, Thailand and a grandson, Austin Williams (Riley Ann Klug) of Seattle, WA.

Her extended family includes 2 sisters, Beverly Livingston Litman of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Lyn Strawn (Dan) of Pueblo, Colorado, 3 nieces, Chrystal Litman Minor of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Michelle Vincent (Fred) from the Fairmont WV area, and Kylee Strawn of Pueblo, Colorado, along with many of relatives and friends. Please note that with such a large biological and foster family, some people may be missed in this obituary; this is not intentional as Jean wanted to know all of her family and spent many years looking for her brothers and sisters.

At Jean’s wishes, there will be no visitation. The family will host a memorial dinner at a date to be announced.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Sistersville Center for the caring and compassion during the last years of Jean’s life.

Memories and condolences may be shared with Jean’s family at www.carechapel.com.

The family has entrusted CARE Funeral & Cremation Specialists, 1500 2nd Street, Moundsville, WV with the funeral arrangements.
