Edward Carl Lesnick, 93, of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
He was married to his St. John’s High School sweetheart Mary (Stropoli) Lesnick for 74 years. They were great dance partners and kept that sense of fun throughout their marriage. Ed was known for his playful sense of humor and enjoyed engaging with just about everyone he met.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree in Education from West Virginia University. He touched the lives of countless students and colleagues throughout his 35 years working as a teacher at Martins Ferry High School. He also instructed adults pursuing a G.E.D (general education development) credential in the evenings.
He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville where he never missed a Sunday mass while he was in good health. In his later years, Ed liked nothing more than to go to breakfast with his teaching buddies and to sit on his front porch and visit with friends and family.
Ed was preceded in death by his infant daughter Lisa Lesnick and his siblings Ruth Biscan, Dorothy Tierney, and Tom Lesnick. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary, children Linda (Ken) Davison of St. Clairsville, Leslie (Andrew) Dahl of Columbus, four grandchildren Greg (Caitlin) Davison, Kate Davison (Dareick Barr), Ben (Katie) Dahl, Andrew Dahl Jr., and his adored first great grandchild Cora Davison.
In accordance with Ed’s wishes, there will be no public services but a family gathering later this summer. He will be remembered for his love of family, his big personality, engaging sense of humor and his love of nature.
