Daniel Robinson

Daniel Louis Robinson, 78, of Triadelphia, WV passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Wheeling Hospital, surrounded by the love and legacy he built throughout his remarkable life.

Born on May 24, 1947, in Wheeling, Daniel was the son of the late Charles and Rose Montalbano Robinson. A proud lifelong resident of the Ohio Valley, Dan dedicated his life to his family, his community, and his work—always with a warm smile and a story ready to share.

Dan graduated from McKinley School and went on to spend 37 dedicated years working as an electrician in the coal mines for Consol Energy. His strong work ethic and steady hands were matched only by his generous spirit. Beyond his career, Dan devoted himself wholeheartedly to serving others. He was a proud member of Masonic Wheeling Lodge #5, serving as Worshipful Master in 1991, 1992, 1993, and again in 2000. He was also a member of the Shriners and the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA). His leadership and commitment to Triadelphia led him to serve as its former Mayor, a role he embraced with pride and purpose. Dan’s volunteerism was a cornerstone of his life. Whether driving children to receive care as a dedicated driver for Shriners Hospital or lending a helping hand through countless local organizations, he gave freely of his time and heart. Supporting Shriners Children’s Hospital was especially meaningful to him, reflecting his deep compassion for children and families in need.

Of all the roles he filled, however, his favorite was that of grandfather. Known affectionately as the “top chauffeur” for his grandchildren, Dan never missed an opportunity to attend a game, recital, or school event. He had a heart of gold and truly never met a stranger. His playful spirit and unforgettable “Danny-isms” brought laughter to every gathering, and those who knew him will forever hear his voice in the sayings he made uniquely his own.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Shiela Robinson; his brothers, Charles Robinson and Kenneth Woolard; his sister, Evelyn Grover; and brother & sister-in-law, Donna and Donald Fischer.

He is survived by his loving children, Kimberly Jamison, Deanna Funari, and Daniel “Mark” (Christina) Robinson; his brother, August “Chickie” (Luann) Robinson; his sister-in laws, Joyce Robinson and Betty Woolard; his sister-in-laws & brother-in-laws, Jeannie & Dave Miller, Joyce & Robert Dobrzynski, Ronnie & Debbie Hundley; eight cherished grandchildren; four treasured great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private viewing and burial at their discretion. A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 4–8 p.m. at the Elm Grove Civics. All who knew and loved Dan are welcome to attend and share in remembering a life so well lived.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, a charity that meant so much to Daniel and reflected the generous spirit with which he lived every day.
