Nancy Lu (Custer) Mengeu, , of Bethlehem, WV, passed away on Thursday April 2, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Wheeling on October 25, 1929 daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Howe) Custer.
Nancy was a homemaker and member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. She found joy in simple, meaningful things. Nancy loved sewing and became an exceptional seamstress, making clothes for her daughters. She enjoyed cake decorating, cooking holiday meals for her family, reading scripture, and spending quiet evenings in prayer. After Harold’s passing, she even took pride in mowing her own lawn for as long as she could.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Mengeu and a daughter, Tracie Lu Mengeu.
Surviving are a son, Gary L. Mengeu and his wife, Sherry; a daughter, Terri L. Hieronimus and her husband, Keith; grandchildren, Sean C. Mengeu and his wife, Chelsey, Todd A. Mengeu and his wife, Erin, Jason Hieronimus and his wife, Mia, Justin Hieronimus and his wife Gabby, Caitlin Miller and her husband Chad ; great-grandchildren, Tristan and Malia Mengeu, Cooper, Delaney and Hudson Mengeu, Kale, Addison, Tate and Emmie Hieronimus, Charlie and Clara Hieronimus and Ayla Grace Miller,.
Services and interment were private and Nancy was laid to rest next to her husband Harold in Greenwood Cemetery.
