Thomas Allen Walker, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, in his hometown of Wheeling, West Virginia. Born on August 7, 1931, in Wheeling, he lived a full and vibrant life of 94 years.
Thomas proudly served his country as a Boatman Third Class in the United States Navy during the Korean War, demonstrating his dedication and commitment to service. Following his military service, he devoted 37 years to the Dietary Department at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, where he was known for his hard work and camaraderie with colleagues.
A man of simple pleasures, Thomas found joy in fishing, bowling, and horse racing. His love for these activities brought him many cherished memories and friendships throughout his life. He was a man of faith, living by Christian principles. Thomas was educated at Blessed Martin Catholic High School, where he formed the foundation of his lifelong values.
Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Marie (Cobbs) Walker; his parents, George W. Walker and Mary L. (Green) Walker; his son, Gregory Wayne Walker; and his siblings, Richard Walker, Ralph Walker, Eugene Walker, George Wiley Walker, and Mamie Walker.
He is survived by his loving children: Brian Keith Walker and his wife Stacy Minter, Eric Allen Walker, Delores Ann Jenkins and her husband Rodney, Yvonne Carolyn Stradwick and her husband Cornell, and Dana Louise Walker. He also leaves behind his dear sister, Alice O’Neil Walker, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Thomas will be fondly remembered by his close friends, Leroy Scott and Ms. Anita, as well as his faithful dog, Mya.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours on Sunday, April 12, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home Wheeling Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 13, at 1 p.m. at the same location, followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery.
Thomas Allen Walker will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
