Wendy Virginia Dunlap-Phillips, 48, of Moundsville, WV, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Wheeling Hospital.
Wendy was born on November 13, 1977, at OVMC in Wheeling, WV, the daughter of the late Douglas Eugene Dunlap and Sylvia June (Wood) Dunlap. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Eugene and Alice Dunlap, as well as her grandparents Opal and Merl Wood.
Wendy leaves behind her sister Melissa Ann (John P.) O’Donnell; half-siblings Charles Wood, Bonnie (Bruce) Blake, Brandy Wood, and Justin Wood; nephew Cody Joseph O’Donnell; uncles Chuck “Muskie” Dunlap and Joseph (Gladys) Dunlap; cousins Tricia Dunlap and her daughters Lily and Madison Sleeth, Mandy Allison (Jeremiah Olsen) Dunlap, and Matthew Scott Dunlap; and several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wendy loved being outside, watching Lifetime movies, and cooking and baking. A fan of the band Shinedown, she cherished her time with friends and family, laughing and enjoying life. She volunteered to help restore the historic Monroe Theatre in Woodsdale, OH, and was a devoted Nursing Assistant at a nursing home.
Friends and family will be received at a Memorial Gathering on Wednesday, May 20, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at CARE Funeral and Cremation Specialists Moundsville Chapel, 1500 Second St. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 21, at noon at Graysville United Methodist Church, 1370 Fish Creek Road, Proctor, WV, followed by a Bereavement Meal at the Graysville Community Center. Burial of Wendy’s urn at Graysville United Methodist Church Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
