Ruth Elizabeth (Carroll) Blessing,76, of Calcutta Ohio, passed away on May 15, 2026 at her home in Calcutta. She was born on August 22, 1949 in her family home, the daughter of the late Ross Allen and Ruth Rubel (McGonigle) Carroll.
A graduate of Beaver Local High School, Class of 1967, Ruth devoted her life to caring for others as a nurse’s aide for 20 years in Dade City, Florida. In 2012, she returned to her hometown, where she continued to enrich the lives of those around her.
Ruth was a woman of many talents and interests. She found joy in canning, crocheting, quilting, and surrounding herself with various craft projects. Her love of travel took her on many adventures with her husband, Fred. When she returned home, Ruth could often be found at Beaver Creek State Park, where she cherished picnics with family and friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederick Blessing, whom she married on June 6, 1987, Ruth and Frederick spent 24 wonderful years together until his passing in 2011. She is also preceded in death by her siblings: Paul Carroll, Jane Ann Young, Eugene Carroll, Nancy Patterson, and John Carroll.
Ruth leaves behind her daughters, Debbie “Chris” Kunkle (Doug) Noth of Calcutta and Tammy (Kunkle) Romero of Rosarito, Mexico. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Matthew T. Kunkle of Sandusky, MI, Amber Williams of Calcutta, Mark Fields of Ovida, FL, and Kayla Fields, also of Ovida, FL. She was a proud great-grandmother to Dillan McKenzie, Samantha McKenzie, Easton Kunkle, Hunter Fields, and Ryan Fields. She also leaves behind her children’s father, Floyd Kunkle.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 11AM -1PM at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation in Calcutta. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM officiated by Life Celebrant, Fawn Householder.
Ruth will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
