Mildred C. “Millie” Downey, born June 20, 1970, Millie passed away at her home in Robertsville, Ohio, on May 19, 2026, at the age of 55, in accordance with her wishes. She was the granddaughter of the late Janet Bertram and daughter of the late Esther Nevitt.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Michael Downey; her daughter, Jessica Heath (Murch); her son-in-law, Jeremy Murch; her son, Noah Meade “DJ”; her stepdaughter, Sabrina Downey; and her nephew, Joey “Joe” Nevitt. She also leaves behind the grandchildren she cherished, adored, and treasured being “Nana” to: Raven Doan, Jesse Murch, Madison Downey “Maddie,” and Skylar Downey. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Richie Nevitt; her sister-in-law, Colleen Nevitt; and was sadly preceded in death by her stepson, Mike Downey “Mikey” — all of whom she “loved to the moon and back.”
Millie lived life on her own terms and was known for being unapologetically herself: bold, honest, strong, caring, and fiercely protective of the people she loved, and the kind of personality that filled a room whether she meant to or not. If she loved you, she loved fiercely. Loyalty meant everything to her. She loved to laugh and had a way of filling a room without even trying. She showed her love through the little things, through protection, through showing up, through trying again, and through the pride she carried for the people she loved most.
Millie was grateful for the life she and Mike built together. Together, they created a bond that was uniquely theirs — something no one else could ever truly match. They simply were not the same without each other. She loved to brag about how there was nothing he couldn’t do and treasured every adventure they shared through the years. “I love you.” “No, I love you more.” “Never.”
She was extremely close with her daughter, Jessica, and was deeply proud of her family, never missing a chance to talk about them. One thing she often told Jessica was, “I did better than my mom. You do better than me,” and she meant that.
Millie shared a bond with her brother Richie that few people could truly comprehend. Deeply rooted in loyalty, history, and love, they understood each other in a way only siblings who have been through life together can.
Her friends Shelly, Dan, and Tammy meant the world to her. She loved them like family.
She also enjoyed late-night phone conversations with her brother, tending to her plants, loud music, and relaxing with her weed, something she never pretended to hide and carried with her usual unapologetic honesty. Some of her favorite moments were the simple ones — laying in bed all day with her husband on a rainy day
Millie’s family will forever hold her close in their hearts. She will be tremendously missed and lovingly remembered.
In keeping with Millie’s wishes, no funeral service will be observed. The Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation in Calcutta have been entrusted with arrangements.
