Sandra Sue McCloud, known as Sandy, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in New Martinsville, WV, at the age of 85. Born on August 5, 1940, in Moundsville, WV, Sandy lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and love.
Sandy was a beloved bartender at many local establishments in and around the McMechen and Benwood area. Her work allowed her to connect with countless people, and she cherished every moment spent with friends and patrons alike. Known for her large and loving personality, Sandy had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued.
She was a woman who truly loved life and found joy in the simple pleasures of being surrounded by family and friends. Her interests revolved around people, and she was happiest when sharing stories and laughter with those she held dear.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rhodena Williams Wood; a son, Lawrence McCloud; a grandson, Josh Shreeves; and her sister, Barbara Johnson.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving children: Carla McCloud, Ed (Marsha) McCloud, and Cheryl Karpiel. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren: Steven Carney, Lawrence Carney, Kelly McCloud, Donnie McCloud, Charlie Norris, Tracie Nelson, Kassandra Gump, and Max Gump, as well as several great and great-great-grandchildren. Sandy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Sandy’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Her family invites those who knew her to celebrate her life in their own way, remembering the joy and laughter she brought into the world.
Sandy’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
