Rebecca “Beckie” Benham Martin, 79, of McMechen passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Valley Hospice. She was born on January 28, 1947, the daughter of the late Russell Benham and the late Ann Benham.
In addition to her parents, Beckie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years JD “Peck” Martin; grandson Michael Martin; father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Virginia Martin; and brothers-in-law John Martin, Richard Sperling, Anthony Cuchta, and Craig Martin.
Beckie is survived by her children Scott (Beth) Martin of Triadelphia, Stacey (Steve) Thomas of Wellsburg, and JD “Jay” Martin II of McMechen; nine grandchildren including Rachael McMillan, Brittney (Corey) Sobota, Lindsey (Josh) Contraguerro, Lindsay (Bobby) Brandon, James (Beth) Thomas, Emily Waryck, JD “Jimmy” (Brittany) Martin III, Danielle (Hunter) Lemasters, Noah (Katyn) Martin; 17 great-grandchildren including Silas, Oliver, Charlee, Parker, Owen, Beckley, Mason, Julia, Quincy, Annalee (Rosie), Aliyah, Lilly, Ivy, Maren, Baby Buck Martin Lemasters on the way, JD (Jamie) Martin IV, and Joey.
She also leaves behind her sister Connie (Andy) Ball and brother Rusty (Lisa) Benham; sisters-in-law Sandy Sperling, Bonnie Cuchta, and Sandy Martin; brother-in-law Mark (Shelly) Martin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Beckie was retired from the former bank of McMechen where she started as a drive-thru teller before working her way up to senior underwriter in the loan department.
The family would like to extend thanks to Valley Hospice, especially to her nurses Geri and Melissa as well as nurse’s aide Lily.
Beckie’s private arrangements have been entrusted to Altmeyer Funeral Homes McMechen Chapel. Per her wishes there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 12, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Kubeck Community Room, 2200 Marshall St. in Benwood.
