Cecelia was a cherished member of her community and family. She devoted over 20 years of service as a jewelry clerk at the former Stone & Thomas Department Store in downtown Wheeling. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to become part owner of Victorian Traditions Bridal in Wheeling’s historic “Old Town.”
A true sports enthusiast, Cecelia enjoyed both local and college sports with great enthusiasm. She had a special fondness for Wheeling Central Catholic High School. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was a devout Catholic and a dedicated member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, while also enjoying Mass at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Gammie was an avid baker. She was especially proud of her cookies and pies.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anna (Kinkus) Motto; her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Weir; her siblings, James, Constance, Samuel, Raymond, and Marsha Motto; son-in-law, Frederic Wizba; sister-in-law, Chris Weir-Musili (Donna); and her great-granddaughter, Jailen Creighton.
Family was the cornerstone of her life. Gammie is remembered as a loving mother to her children: Kim (Thad) Podratsky, Sherry Wizba, Robert (Bridget) Weir, and Philip (Kim) Weir. As a grandmother, she brought love and laughter to her grandchildren: Tiffany Braunlich, Josh (Sherie) Braunlich, Chelsey (Sean) Mengeu, Sara Wizba, Philip (Danielle) Weir, Anne (Doug) Howell, Lauren Weir, Remy (Katy) Weir, and Emily Wizba. Her legacy continues through her 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
