Ann M. (Shahan) Barnes, born on May 29, 1940, in Glen Dale, WV, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on July 13, 2026, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling, WV.

Ann lived a life marked by dedication and love. She was a proud and hardworking housekeeper whose commitment to her clients was unwavering. Her work ethic was matched only by her devotion to her family, whom she cherished dearly. Ann was the loving mother of two sons and an adoring grandmother to five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Ann’s unwavering passion for the Pittsburgh Steelers was evident in every aspect of her life. Her home, adorned with Steelers-themed decor, was a testament to her loyalty and enthusiasm for her favorite team. Moreover, Ann was committed to maintaining her health and well-being, embracing physical exercise as a vital part of her daily routine.

Faith played a significant role in Ann’s journey; she drew strength and inspiration from her Catholic beliefs, which guided her through life’s challenges and triumphs.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Clarence W. and Melvina R. (Wilfong) Shahan, and her sister, Betty Hill. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be carried on by her surviving sons, Jim (Maureen) Barnes of Groton, CT, and Mark (Laurie) Barnes of Marlinton, WV. Her five cherished grandchildren—Ryan, Kelsey, Mackenzie, Kathleen, and Caitlin Barnes; her great-grandchild, Finnegan Barnes; and another great grandchild on the way.

In accordance with Ann’s wishes, funeral services will be private, reserved for her immediate family. She will be laid to rest at Parkview Memorial Gardens in Wheeling.
