James Leo Jackson Sr., 72, of St. Clairsville, passed away on July 18, 2026, at Trinity Neighborhood Hospital in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Born on January 17, 1954, in Bradford, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Clayton Jackson Sr. and Pauline Campbell Jackson.
James spent his career as a security guard at Wheeling Hospital, from which he retired after many years of committed service. His work was characterized by a steadfast sense of duty and an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of others.
Beyond his professional life, James found solace and joy in the world of books. An avid reader, he spent countless hours immersed in literature. Additionally, in his younger years he found great joy in running, particularly running marathons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Schmidt, siblings; Clayton Jackson, Polly Jackson, Cheri Jackson, and Wendy Terwilliger.
Survivors include his wife, Carmen Santina (Cadoni) Carpenter, children; James Leo (Gina) Jackson Jr., Susan Marie Horning, AlisonAnne (Ed Miller) Krieg, Catherine Marie Carpenter and Daniel Schmidt, siblings; Grace King, Kathy Jackson, Bonnie (Gene) Lawton and Bernard Jackson, seventeen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
