James N. “Jim” Sengewalt, Sr., a beloved father and pap, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at Peterson Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born on March 23, 1933, in Wheeling, WV, Jim lived a long and fulfilling life, reaching the age of 93.
Jim was a retired supervisor with Blaw-Knox Corporation, where he dedicated many years of service. His life was marked by a deep commitment to his family and faith. A devout member of St. Vincent Catholic Church of Wheeling, Jim’s faith was a guiding force throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 68 years, Anna Mae Venskoske Sengewalt; his son, James “Jimmy” Sengewalt, Jr.; three sisters: Helen Cooper, Jean Bentz, and Pat Blake; and four brothers: Ralph, Robert, Larry, and his twin brother, Jack Sengewalt.
Jim is survived by his loving daughters, Karen (Robert) Rose and Deborah (Paul) Teachout; three granddaughters: Brandi Rose (Alan Olson), Brittany (Corey) Guzzi, and Amanda (Wes) Hall; three great-grandsons: Chase, Luca Guzzi and Weston Hall, one great-granddaughter, Ainsley Hall; his sister, Ruth Werner; and several nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, located at 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV. A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 PM with Sister Jeanne Vidonic.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent Catholic Church on Marshall Street, Wheeling with Father Jeeson and Father Pen. Interment will follow the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, National Road in Wheeling, WV with Military Honors.
