Evelyn Louise Munyon, 88, of East Palestine, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Calcutta Healthcare.
She was born on December 24, 1937, in Hamlin, West Virginia, to Troy and Belle (Lucas) Miles. An early Christmas present to her family, Evelyn moved to East Liverpool at a young age, where she later graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1955.
Evelyn married Arthur “Larry” Munyon, with whom she shared a devoted marriage of 58 years until his passing in March 2024. Their life together was filled with the joy of raising a family and creating lasting memories.
A dedicated member of the First Church of Christ in East Palestine, Evelyn was known for her sweet and loving nature. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great delight in her role as a cherished grandmother and trusted babysitter to her grandchildren and many others. She was ever grateful for the support and love shown by her family, always ready with a heartfelt “thank you” for the smallest acts of kindness.
Evelyn’s culinary skills were well-known and appreciated by all who enjoyed sitting around the table with her. She had a special love for cookies and never passed up the chance to enjoy them or stash them for later, much to the delight of her beloved dogs who occasionally discovered them first. Cookies always seemed to bring an extra smile to her face.
One of Evelyn’s greatest blessings was the close bond she shared with Peggy, who was not only her sister, but her most trusted friend. They made countless memories together, especially during their shopping trips where laughter, conversation and time spent together meant far more than anything they brought home.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Larry; her great-grandson, Ethan Ferguson; her grandson, Adam Leaf; and her siblings, Cletus Miles and Peggy Perenovich.
She is survived by her children, Brenda (Kristy) Munyon, Julie (Keith) Richeal, and Debbie (Robert) Ober; her grandchildren, Stephanie Koch, Jacklyn Koch, and Gage Bush; and three great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward her legacy of love and family.
In accordance with Evelyn’s wishes, no visitation or funeral service will be held. It brings comfort to the family knowing that Evelyn is reunited with Larry again where she is joyfully returning to the kitchen to prepare his favorite meals with the same love and care that made her house a home.
