Neda Mae Kellas (née Chambers), age 93, passed away peacefully in her home on July 24, 2026.

For over 70 years, Neda Mae called that house her home, where she and her husband, Charles George Kellas, raised their four children and built a lifetime of cherished memories.

Neda Mae is survived by her children, Charlotte Antaki (George), Charles Kellas Jr. (Betty Landwehr), Cathy Trouten (Pat), and Steve Kellas. Born on July 11, 1933, and raised on a farm in Cameron, West Virginia, Neda Mae took a bus to Wheeling, where she worked in the jewelry department at Murphy’s 5 & 10. It was there that she met her future husband, Charlie Kellas, through his sister, Mary Kellas Eddy. Their introduction led to a life devoted to family.

Throughout her life, Neda Mae was known for her independence, strength, and resilience. During her marriage and later throughout her 27 years as a widow, she remained a source of inspiration and guidance to those around her. Her unwavering determination, kindness, and strong values made her a remarkable role model for her children and grandchildren.

As the last surviving member of her generation, Neda Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charles Kellas; her parents, Nancy and Francis Chambers; her seven siblings, Leitha Bartrug, Eva Ludwig, Harrison Chambers, Thelma Otte, Lavonne Strope, Arnold Chambers, and Alma Heilman; and her grandson, Andrew Steven Kellas.

A private family ceremony will be held in her honor.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to gather with loved ones, share stories, create happy memories, and celebrate the gift of family and friendship, just as Neda Mae would have wanted.

Neda Mae’s love, strength, and example will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.‌
