Barbara “Sis” Strope, born on December 9, 1946, in Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, at Moundsville Heath Care Center.
Barbara was a cherished member of the Harvest Baptist Church in Moundsville, where she found joy and fulfillment in her faith and community. Her love of her church was evident in her active participation and dedication to it’s activities. She was known for her enthusiasm for BINGO and her warm, social nature, which endeared her to many.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Strope; her infant daughter, Lisa Strope; and her mother and step-father, Dexter and Bessie (Whetzel) Hall.
She is survived by her dear cousins: Vickie and Bill Mason, Mary and Kevin South, Sharon and Urban Whetzel-Danahey, and Mark Whetzel. Her best friend, Peggy Sneigle, also mourns her passing, along with numerous friends and fellow church members who were touched by her kindness and spirit.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Barbara’s life and legacy. In honor of her life and faithfulness, memorial contributions can be made to Harvest Baptist Church, her beloved church home.
